An experiment inspired by The Revolt chair by Friso Kramer

Friso Kramer designed the revolutionary ‘Revolt Chair’  for the manufacturer ‘Ahrend/ De Cirkel’ in 1953. A true classic in Industrial Design, this chair won a place in classrooms, offices and homes all over the world. Kramer steel plated the frame, creating essentially an indestructible product, one of the first chairs to be mass produced.

The Chair was my first experience working with Mild Steel (MS). The Project introduced me to handling 18 gauge MS Sheet & Pipe, like bending pipe, cutting & bending sheet metal and welding. Also, the need for a Tie to hold the pipe to ensure that the chair did not succumb to weight. A rope seat was woven after finishing for comfortable seating.
