Dal-chini.

A Stainless-steel mess chair concept

A folding-chair concept proposed for the NID mess. I suggested that the chair be built in the in-house workshops and the money saved in the process, could be invested in the materialization of the chairs, while also equipping the workshop with more resources for the students to explore with during their courses.

Dal-Chini was designed keeping in mind the environment it will be placed in its users and usage. Based on this, the material (stainless steel) and form were worked upon. The Form needed to be such that it could be acquired using the NID workshops. Various mechanisms on existing folding chairs were studied to discover one apt for the usage.
