Chai pe Charcha
Conversations over Tea
“Object lessons in Resistance & Resilience”, was a Workshop in which we studied various common objects around us and saw how they could carry a lot more meaning and could also be used as symbols to convey certain messages. At the end of the Workshop, we were required to choose objects or activities, which seemed common to our daily lives and create a bricolage out of it in such a way that we gave more meaning to it.

The everyday ritual of conversation over ‘Chai’ with friends made for an interesting context. Traditional teapots and Chai cups were used as containers for different political issues, conversations and debates. Various topics like Political issues, Climate change, Equality, problems faced by Technology & Development, Poverty, etc, were depicted. This provided the targeted audience with food for thought and further discussion. In addition to this, stickers as take-aways were distributed as a reminder of these discussions. Each of the objects were either collected or sculpted with clay and later playing-slime was filled into the Chai cups.
